Sterile Life
Clean world, clean region, clean past, clean body, clean spirits… How simple but how powerful is the word clean! We would be wrong to say that the word sterile, clean is tangible, of course, but the word sterile is at least as strong as the word clean and even more magical than the word clean.
Sterilization means absolutely killing all microbes in a product or on an object. For this, disinfecting materials such as alcohol, oxygenated water, mercurochrome are used. Ozone gas produced by them with ultraviolet rays are also very effective sterilizers. An oven or autoclave is used for this job. On the other hand, surgical instruments to be used in surgeries are also sterilized so that they do not contaminate the wound. The surgical instruments are placed in iron boxes, which we call containers, where they will be kept, and thus placed in the autoclave or another preferred device.
So is sterilization of a product sufficient? Of course, no is not enough. When it comes to keeping the sterilized product sterile and using it, it is the most important value to ensure that it is sterile. Especially when it comes to patient safety! So how do we know and trust that a product is sterile? Of course, with sterile packaging products and of course, plastic comes to our rescue. Patient safety is the most important reason for all efforts to set improved standards and maintain best business and quality practices. Everything is all about the role packaging plays in patient safety. It is clear that plastic packaging, which helps sterile packaging engineers to be smarter, stronger and more effective in their roles as packaging engineers, is evident that today's changes are pushing them in new directions and encouraging them to think more creatively.
The EU addresses new expectations for sterile packaging in MDR. The new regulations require medical device manufacturers to design packaging that allows users to determine that the sterile barrier is still intact prior to aseptic presentation. In this direction, the message that packaging is critical should be conveyed more broadly and packaging engineers in the product development cycle should be paid more attention.
Studies continue not only in the health sector, but also in all areas where sterile packaging is used. The power of plastic materials, the creative perspective of packaging engineers, and the support of the public and private sector are also very important for sterile packaging to see the value it deserves. These packages, which are specially produced to protect the instruments from contamination after sterilization and to maintain their sterility until the moment of use, are the only way to create an effective protective barrier. In the absence of an effective protective barrier, the infections that may occur may cause irreversible problems and even the death of that creature. We must understand and understand the place and role of those packages that are opened in seconds and thrown aside in our lives.
