Water Therapy

Issue 16
  • Water Therapy

2/3 of our world is covered with water and existence is of course unthinkable without water. Water is the basis of plants, animals, in short, all organisms. The most important finding in space exploration whether there is life on a planet or not, water is our source of life. Not going to a planet or not, to explore or not to explore is an investment that is decided according to water findings. 60% of our body consists of water and water is the building block of our body. Of course, while water is so important in our lives, it is not possible for me to penetrate or touch our souls.

In the metropolitan life order, in the rush and stress, it is everyone's dream to get away from the city at the weekend and integrate with nature. Maybe swimming a little, maybe fishing or just looking at the sea almost heals our souls. Diving into the depths and advancing in a magical water world, in a different universe with different creatures, and exploring that universe is invaluable. Psychologists recommend looking at the blue waters for at least one hour a day, focusing on the rhythmic movements of the waves, for eye and mental health.

There are magical water therapy alternatives for those who cannot integrate with nature on weekends and cannot break away from metropolitan life. The giant acrylic-based aquarium in the lobby of Ocean Park Marriott in Hong Kong brings us the magical water world thanks to plastic. Reynolds Polymer Technology Inc., a global manufacturer of fully integrated, highly engineered acrylic solutions, has successfully completed the fabrication and installation of an approximately 50-metre aquarium at the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott hotel. The aquarium is prominently displayed in the grand lobby as a central design element filled with nearly two thousand aquatic animals representing 90 different species. The acrylic cylinder is 49 feet high and 20 feet wide. The brine-filled cylindrical tank consists of 14 individual pieces of acrylic connected in a monolithic structure by seven vertical foundations and one horizontal foundation. The aquarium spans three hotel floors with a 49-foot-high and 20-foot-wide cylinder, and the wall thickness is 7.5 inches. “It has been a real pleasure to see our highly engineered acrylic come to life at the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott,” said Mark Johnson, Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing. “With every project Reynolds is selected for, our talents increase and we are able to demonstrate our innovative nature. This water feature provides guests with an attractive view of marine life at the Ocean Park property." Michael Wong, Sales Director, Asia Pacific, Reynolds Polymer Technology, said, "Reynolds' role in this project includes cutting-edge technologies and techniques that go into detail in producing exceptional design styles and quality acrylic attractions. The Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott hotel is "an impressive design and architectural achievement, embracing local elements such as ocean inspiration, with a strong focus on eco-friendly practices," Wong said.

Many concepts in the urban planning plans provide an opportunity for adults and children to integrate with nature. Of course, creating these opportunities is not only possible with high engineering, and it would be the most rational solution to take advantage of the opportunities that plastic offers us. How can a generation that does not know fish, do not know and see different life forms, and only experience it with digital animations, can appreciate the seas?
