As a result of industrialization; hazardous chemicals are used in sectoral terms. These dangerous goods are transported in many ways in international trade, usually on highways. For this reason, there are laws and rules that are regulated worldwide in the transport of dangerous chemicals. Damage to the environment can be considerable if chemicals are not handled carefully.

For this reason, Chemical Products Shipment and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Rules Training organized by IKMIB starts on December 9 and 16. But first let’s take a look at how these chemicals are transported.

How to Transport Dangerous Chemicals?

Industrialization has led to the use and transport of hazardous chemicals in many sectors today. This creates accidents and permanent pollution that have negative effects on living things and the environment. Dangerous goods are transported all over the world and carried out in many different ways.

Chemicals that are at risk for health, safety and the environment are considered hazardous chemicals. These chemicals are: Explosive, oxidizing, highly flammable, easily very toxic, harmful, corrosive, irritating, allergic, carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic to reproduction and environmentally hazardous substances. In general, hazardous chemicals can suddenly create health and safety risks to people and the environment.

Land, sea, railway and pipelines and dangerous chemicals transported and occupies an important place in international trade. As a result of industrialization, the level of transportation of raw materials and finished goods is increasing. Accordingly, a hazardous material can continue its journey by road, railway, maritime and airway transport to another country. This situation causes some problems. For this reason, transportation must be carried out in accordance with the common regulations and rules around the world. Because the rules of transport or the change of the country as a result of changing the country each time, will make transportation difficult and impossible. The recyclability, disposal or transport of hazardous wastes in urban and industrial areas also requires the presence of international legislation on the transport of hazardous materials. The International Labor Organization (ILO) listed the measures to be taken in the production, use, storage, transportation, disposal, treatment and maintenance of chemical wastes of chemicals by the Convention No. 170 and Recommendation 177 on the Safety of the Use of Chemicals adopted in 1990. Convention 170 envisages the classification of chemicals based on the properties of the chemicals and the physical and health hazards that may be caused by them, and complies with the United Nations Organization’s Recommendation on the Handling of Dangerous Goods (UNRTDG) during transport.

1. IATA Certificate obtained as a result of Dangerous Goods Rules (DGR / Category 1, 2, 3, 6) Training is required in order to ensure transfer of samples of chemical products which are classified as dangerous goods and in fast and small package export made with Electronic Trade Customs Declaration (ETGB) *. As a result of the protocol we signed with Turkish Airlines Aviation Academy, which is an expert in Dangerous Goods Rules Training, we aim to benefit from the 1.540 TL ** (including VAT) with a 30% discount on the training fee. In addition, in addition to this discount rate, an additional 50% discount will be provided to the first 100 member firms applying for training in line with the decision we have made with the Board of Directors of IKMIB and the training fee will be applied as 770 TL.
