Metal Guard

  • Metal Guard

We use hardness and durability expressions even in the flow of our lives, like a man like steel, nothing will happen to him. It is included in the names of even the superheroes that have been the subject of movies, Iron Man… Isn't there anything that affects these materials and brings even these hard materials to their knees? Of course there is corrosion ...

Corrosion is the oxidation of metal or metal alloys or the erosion by other chemical effects. Examples of corrosion include rusting of iron, oxidation of aluminum. The word corrosion, which entered Turkish from foreign languages, is related to meanings such as eating and gnawing. It can be met with words such as wear, rot, rust, deterioration, and defeat.

Metals and alloys have a high tendency to return to compound state, which is their stable state. As a result, metals react with the elements of the environment they are in and try to turn into an ionic state first and then combine with other elements in the environment to turn into a compound, that is, they undergo chemical change and deteriorate. As a result, the physical, chemical, mechanical or electrical properties of the metal or alloy undergo undesirable changes (damage). Corrosion is a naturally occurring event that occurs as a result of the reaction of metallic materials with the environment in which they are located, without the need for external energy.

The deterioration of metal and metal alloys whose surfaces are not properly protected is an important technological problem. Plastics rush to our rescue in order to overcome this technological problem. Cortec introduced what it calls "the world's first compostable anti-corrosion stretch film". EcoStretch is the next generation in a range of commercially compostable film technologies offered by Cortec, which specializes in the development of corrosion protection and packaging technologies that minimize environmental impact. Machine grade stretch wrap combines commercially compostable resins with Vapor phase Anti Corrosion (VpCI) technology that provides corrosion protection to multiple metal types, including aluminum, galvanized steel, carbon steel, silicon steel, stainless steel, copper, brass and cast iron . EcoStretch meets the ASTM D6400 standard for commercial composting and can avoid tariffs, penalties and tip fees where polyethylene is prohibited or restricted. It is suitable for stretch wrapping metal equipment such as molds and components that need to be kept rust-free while minimizing the environmental impact of traditional plastic packaging.

In order to protect precious metals and to use the equipment made of precious metals for a longer period of time and even to complete their life, the stretches that protect them remain like a camel when their costs and the value they earn are compared. The reason for the low cost of stretches is that the value they add is not an open topic for discussion. However, those who cannot look at a broad perspective, those who cannot think of the future and their own resources should continue to discuss the stretches… even stand in a corner…
