  • Modern Plastıcs

Those who can keep up with the speed of life are always one step ahead. Technology and modern life make everything easier and at the same time raise our comfort. This material is shaping our lives, aside from the fact that plastic keeps up with the speed of life with technology. But how?

Latest Planes

Two of the most technologically advanced passenger jets are the Boeing Dreamliner and the Airbus A350 XWB. Manufactured from plastic composites reinforced with other materials such as carbon fibers. That’s why airplanes are becoming really tough, lighter and more fuel efficient. And especially in Airbus type aircraft, composite wing tips are made of plastic. This increases productivity and can be bent during flight without breaking.

2. Are You Driving a Modern Car?

If you don’t drive a classic American car, you have a car that’s half made of plastic. No, you didn’t hear it wrong. At least half of modern cars consist of plastic parts. Today’s modern cars are about 50 percent plastic by volume. But even by weight, it has 10 percent plastic parts. Light and rigid plastics help vehicles significantly improve gas use, including advanced composites used in the above aircraft example. This means that the vehicles produced are less costly and lighter, and also increase safety and design features.

3. Do you do sports? You probably wear plastic fibers.

Next time, if you’re at the sporting goods store, check the labels on shirts, shorts, leggings and other sportswear. Nylon, polyester, acrylic, lycra and spandex are today’s modern, flexible, comfortable and sweat-absorbing fabrics and are made of plastic fibers. We don’t think you’ll find a cotton swimsuit these days for swimmers and surfers.

4. Do you want to play tennis?

Most tennis rackets are made of plastic. You might ask if it’s not graphite. Yes, graphite = carbon. Most modern rackets are typically produced with composites such as carbon fiber reinforced plastics. Like the above-mentioned composites, they are lighter, stiffer, and stronger than most of the previous racket materials.

5.You know the stents fitted to the heart.

We hope that no one needs to learn that closely. Life-saving stents are placed in the coronary arteries to open the heart blockage and administer medication. They are usually small metal mesh devices coated with plastic. And it is useful to know that; The FDA has even approved a plastic heart stent that does not require a metal mesh. It does its job and dissolves completely over time. It saves a life and then disappears. The FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) stands for the American Food and Drug Administration.

6. Modern Glasses

It is probably not a good idea to place frangible glass lenses directly in your eye. Therefore, almost all modern lenses are made of tough, break-resistant plastics such as polycarbonate. These plastic lenses can be turned into numerous shapes.
