  • R & D Support In Plastıc Recyclıng

Under the PolnySpire Project, supported by Horizon 2020, 22 project partners will share their experiences in many areas such as recycling of plastics and improving the quality of recycled plastics. IKMIB and KORDSA are among Turkish partners in the project.
The opening meeting of the 4-year PolnySpire Project, supported by Horizon 2020, Europe’s largest civil R & D program, was held in Brussels in 2018. In addition to the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association (İKMİB), KORDSA is also included in the Project which has a total of 22 partners throughout Europe

The project aims at developing the technology for the chemical recovery of plastics. The goals of the Project are:

Chemical recovery of plastic monomers and fillers.

Development of alternative additives to improve the quality of recycled plastics.

Evaluation of plastic wastes as carbon source in steel industry.

IKMIB, which supports the PolynSpire R & D project, will contribute to the market analysis of the products emerging from the project, the evaluation of these products within the scope of waste legislation and the promotion and dissemination activities of the project.

İKMİB takes part in the project in order to provide know-how transvers about the successful processes related to the recycling of plastics. IKMIB aims to map the waste in Europe and inform the member firms about the latest technological developments related to waste processing in Turkey.

This year, with the Plastic Recycling Committee established in cooperation with PAGDER and İKMİB, things are going very seriously. By following them closely, we will also convey the current developments in the upcoming issues. Click here to read the article “Recycle Revolution in Turkey.”
