Stronger Than Wood: Plastıc Tımber

  • Stronger Than Wood: Plastıc Tımber

For the first time, a company in Minnesota may have developed plastic timber that exceeds timber for durability. And this will reduce the number of trees cut down.

According to Finance & Commerce, a plastic equal to the strength of timber was produced. It is quite reasonable for plastic researchers and manufacturers and a wonder of wood can be found. However, Minnesota-based Envirolastech Inc. Paul Schmitt, founder of the company Rochester, says that plastic not only outperforms hard wood, but also transcends problems that sometimes arise with traditional timber. Schmitt says the company’s plastics resist fading, which is also seen in other types of plastic timber.

The company’s tests have confirmed that the plastic timber is not affected by heat or cold. Normally this is a common problem with plastics. Envirolastech officials said that these claims have been tested by the American Testing and Materials Association and that the composite material has been approved by an engineering organization that validates the weight-bearing ability of plastic.

Consumers often expected that green products would cost more than traditional products, and that small companies could not compete with larger competitors. However, a judge for the 2012 Minnesota Cup held an entrepreneurship competition focusing on new and innovative businesses. To those who say that these two expectations are not true for Envirolastech Judge Todd Taylor says; They have a superior product with a very attractive price point.

The company has produced more than 30 different products, but wants to concentrate in the foreign market. He claims his product has nearly twice the impact of his closest competitor, but costs 20% less.

One of the reasons why the company has a price advantage is that its raw materials come from waste storage areas. So there is a tremendous recycling here. Production formulas can reduce production costs by allowing them to use higher amounts of mineral filters such as fly ash and gypsum.

Schmidt spent eight years with the help of recruited researchers to find opportunities to combine various types of recycled products. In general, the team looked at more than 700 different formulas before discovering how to obtain the molecular bond needed to meet the strength and other requirements of the company.
